ZIMBABWE MOVEMENT FOR DEMOCRATIC CHANGE
Building a better Zimbabwe for all people DEMO!!!!!! DEMONSTRATION DEMO!!!!!!!!! STAND UP AND BE COUNTED! LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD
Zimbabwe has become a place of sorrows. Anti-democratic legislation has imposed severe limits on freedom of speech, assembly and association whilst the entrenchment and proliferation of coercive and violent political culture has provoked wide-scale human rights abuses. Zimbabwe is on the eve of an election year: the nation is constitutionally bound to have general parliamentary elections before June 2005. It is vital for those in the Southern African region and elsewhere to be aware of the need for substantial change - in laws, in the behavior of government agencies - before any election can take place. Therefore, the MDC is demanding the ruling government to meet certain SADC electoral norms and standards before an election could be held in Zimbabwe. In support of these demands we are inviting all Zimbabwean citizens to come to a peaceful demonstration/protest in downtown, Dallas, Texas. WE DEMAND:
The restoration of the rule of law. Mugabe must end all forms of political violence and completely disband the youth militias. He must ensure that the police and security forces are impartial in the conduct of their duties. In addition, Zimbabwe needs a special court to hear and resolve electoral disputes speedily. From our experience in the past five years, the legal route, in its present form, has subverted democracy. The restoration of Basic Freedoms and Rights. We are asking the regime to revoke those aspects of the Public Order and Security Act and the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (AIPPA) that curtail personal freedoms of the people. The Public Media must be open to all political parties and individual politicians. Further, all Zimbabweans living outside the country must be allowed to vote. The establishment of an Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). Elections are very crucial to any country. They are basic right with a potential to make or break a nation. We risk perpetuating our misery if we allow Zanu PF to continue playing games with our electoral system. Already, we are the laughing stock of the SADC region. Because of our previous experience, the management and implementation of our electoral process cannot be left to Registrar General Tobaiwa Mudede alone. Mudede has failed the nation on numerous occasions. His record contains sufficient evidence to disqualify him from handling another major election single-handedly unless Mugabe and Zanu PF are not serious about the future of Zimbabwe. We need an impartial body to run our elections. The restoration of Public Confidence in the Electoral Process. This is a crucial matter. Zimbabweans are fast losing faith in elections because of mistrust. We need a clean and accurate voters roll. The roll must be freely available to interested persons and to all political parties. People must vote in a single day; the counting of votes must be done at the polling station immediately after voting ends. Violence must end. The restoration of the Secrecy of the Ballot. Voting must take place in an atmosphere that ensures total secrecy. Our ballot boxes must change. We need to use translucent plastic ballot boxes of secure, single piece construction. The regime must stop abusing traditional leaders to coerce their subjects during elections.

I am in the US and there are people who are collecting money from churches and other Zimbabweans and telling people that they are sending money to MDC in Zimbabwe. I would like someone who is in the MDC office to confirm if yes MDC is receiving this money. I would love to start giving money to these people but i want to know if for sure MDC is receiving this money.

It would be good if MDC could get its money/funding from Zimbabweans and other fund-raising activities. That would give us a real party as opposed to a western funded puppet party!!

If Tsvangirayi is convicted yes as MDC we should engage in ways to make him released.
There should be an interim leader who have the strenght to drive resitence.
We must and its a must to remain united and Zanu Pf might be looking forward to cause confusion in the Party
Lets show the world that we are mature and not a Party of wabblers.
Possible executive that should Lead includes:
P Musihairabwi E Mudzuri Gibson Sibanda Welshman Ncube I matongo Gift Chimanikire

Let us stand by our leader people. We all know that Morgan is innocent. Even if he is sent to jail let us support him like the ANC did to Nelson Mandela. They think that by sending Morgan to jail we will suspend our struggle. Not in a thousand years. The struggle shall continue. By the end of the day we sahll know the fate of our president. Let us pray for him people. What Zanu doesn't know is that by putting Tsvangirayi behind bars the forces of democracy will be stronger than ever. God bless you Mr Tsvangirayi and remember we are behind you all the way. Your road to greatness starts today.
I agree though that there should be a pwerful interim leader who would have to lead the party and fight for democracy if our leader is wrongly convicted. Vukani Mahlabezulu .......

Vukani! another famous politician used those same words. "Never in a thousand years". At the time of writing Morgan has been set free from the charges but awaits the next charge. We do not even want to think of a custodial sentence, that is negative thinking. Remember it is not only Black Zimbabweans that have suffered from the ZANU Regime and payed the Ultimate Price but also Non Black Zimbabweans. The next Government Leadership Strategy we trust will represent all Zimbabweans and not just one Elitist,Nepotist and Tribalist society that is in power now. To steal Dr.Keneth Kaunda`s famous adage. "One Zimbabwe One Nation" and to add to that "For All Zimbabweans". To end we do not need Mugabe behind bars again, or dead ,before or for along time after his electoral defeat, that will just martyrise him.

Stefenus if Mugabe goes to jail he wont live to become a martyr again. His party is doomed and he is using these apocalyptic days to loot the last out of Zimbabwe, for that we may forgive, but can we forgive him for the Gukurahundi masacres and the presant day atrocities? We are living in fear of his butcherers and for that he and his fellows must pay

Munjanja! I am in agreement with you. I remember the Infamous 5th Brigade Gukuruhundi, and had one or two unpleasant encounters with them when returning from Wankie Colliery and Power Station to Bulawayo and am still of the opinion it was them who kidnaped and murdered the six Tourists on the Falls road. I was also invoved in that scene after the event had happened. What I am advocating is. Do not let us lower our selves to the present incumbents behaviour and get on with restoring the Jewel of Africa as stated by President Julius Nyrere. Fifth Brigade, CIO AND PISI yes they must account for there involvement of torture and Murder. Even now the Murders and abuse continue but the Western World is not interested because we do not have any thing of value to them. ie. Oil and sufficent quantities of minerals to warrant there involvement. We are on our own friends, we are on our own.

Courage Shumba! I think you believe to much that you read in the Government controlled News Media re your statements of white farmers who purportedley abused their workers. You read the stories in the Media that did not print the truth about the Murders and evictions of White and Black farmers from their farms. Have you seen those farms recently, they are derilict, no crops growing, nothing and you complain a bout the economy collapsing. Wake up my friend and open your eyes and see the suffering of the people around you and leave the talk of Civil War in the past where it belongs. Think on these things. What was the cost of one loaf of bread, one x 50 Kgs Maize meal, one Egg ,one Pint of Milk etc,etc etc in for instance in 1982 and compare it with now. There is a very old saying There is non as blind as those people who do not wish to see. siya bonga. Stefanus
