Hi, im sorry if this is a little inappropriate for this forum, but I am currently (trying) to write a thesis on whether regime change should happen in Zimbabwe, and I was wondering if there was anyone who may have lived or live in Zimbabwe, and who may have information to share on it. I hope that ZImbabwe will return to being a peaceful country sooner rather than later. Any help would be much appreciated, thankyou
Will

It will not be easy but we can all argree that Zim is worth it

The intimidation of innocent Zimbabwean people by Zanu PF results from its political weakness and unpopularity. Mugabe and his supporters will suffer extreme guilt for their disregard for human life and detachment from human feelings. Because of this guilt, this weakness, they can be ousted. How can Mugabe feel confident and determined to enforce policies which he knows are only self-serving and which most Zimbabweans abhor? How can he take no responsibility for the increase in crime, in squatter camps, in unemployment? HE MUST FEEL A RESPONSIBILITY. Make him feel a responsibility! And if he refuses to, if he is too terrified to, then a nationwide passive resistance will give him no choice. It worked in India with the inspiration from Ghandi. It can work in Zim! Violence can be met with violence, or it can be met with nationwide standstill. This means stopping the whole country from functioning because of the people refusing to cooperate with a government that refuses to care for them. It requires communication and the solid unity of all people. This discussion board is meant for discussion, but we all know that there is unfair violence and intimidation in Zimbabwe. We don't need to debate it, we don't need to discuss the dynamics behind it. It is there, it is blatant, it is unlawful, it is against human rights. If only a few people act, they will be killed. If everyone acts, well Zanu PF can be snapped like a twig. Uniting means communicating. Don't give up!! Give people a reason to live. It is difficult for starving people to fight or resist, I know. But at least it gives them a reason to live, instead of living only from one day to the next waiting to be beaten up or raped.

Imi,
Nguva rauya manje for an uprising. We saw after the election, people did not want to protest. They said no Mugabe did not win but we will not protest. Vanhu kuMDC vakati come on uprise! Asi no. Now, the police are beating up people and burning property. What type of government would say that they want reports of people being shot?? Come on people!! Many have blasted the MDC for participating in the election- but because they did participate, they showed the world the fraud that was going on in Zim by Mugarbage. Now is the time for an uprising. VANHU VESE- act together- stand firm- we are prepared to die removing that president. Why should we go on suffering? Why? No more suffering, no more harsh times. REMOVE MUGABE! UPRISE! FIGHT! PROTEST!
I would prefer to die fighthing than to die as a coward- if the police are going to beat you up- do not take it! FIGHT BACK!

At times it better to fight fire with fire.People have been beaten and tortured because of what they believe. The only way to end this terrorism is to make Mugabe and his motorcade scared whilst driving through our ruined cities. As we speak ,right now,ZANU youths are destroying peoples houses 'because they believe the plannig is wrong.' But five years ago when they were repossessing land, what planning did they use?

Hello to you all from Belgium. When I was living in London between 1970 and 1976 I was a member of the Civil Rights Movement there. Trying to help West Indians and Africans collect benefits, deal with inflated rents and in many cases being refused jobs because they were not white, plus a multitude of other forms of racial abuse. First of all we tried the peacefull way by reason and talking to people - that did not work. Then the marches started, and we were attacked by the National Front and the police the violence was really bad. And then some of us were killed. It was then that the gloves came off. Those who knew unarmed combat techniques taught others, we learned to move around in packs and not get cut off from the main group. Freedom is something one has to fight for it is not begged. Unfortunately with what I am reading on the situation in Zim today I don't really see any democratic way out which is something I find horrifying. I really cannot understand how street vendors and shanty houses can be just arrested/destroyed by police when people are just trying to eek out a living. There is no valid reason for this, how can people live with no food not even the basics, there is no way Mugabe can justify this, no decent human being can justify what is going on out there now. It seems like the whole population is being beaten and starved into submission. I wish you all courage, and try to hope that one day you will be rid of that monster by whatever it takes. Do not give up hope, your plight has been noticed by many in Europe, but what can we do to help, nothing - because we are not there but here. Try to watch out for one another because eventually you will have to fight in order to survive. I sincerely hope that the cost will not be too high in lives, if this is what it has to come down to - that is what most of my friends in Europe are asking - how are they going to get rid of Mugabe? without a bloodbath - and none of us can come up with a good solution - goodby and godbless
