The issue in Zimbabwe is simple - our government thrives on chaos and is made up of people who know zilch about planning. Seventeen months ago, Gideon Gono could have come in and with the help of our inteligence units actually investigated his colleagues in the banking sector, presented his factual findings and told them to clean up their mess within 90 days or face arrest. That did not happen and instead we had jambanja and a number of them "escaping" from Zimbabwe. No such thing - a number were bankers for influential people and were literally escorted to the airport - is it not a coincidence that a good number of these people managed to "escape". Just to add wood to the fire of ZANU's lack of planning skills, we now have people being hounded out of their legitimate businesses simply because a few rats have gotten in amongst them. Surely a similar approach to what I've desrcibed above would have worked. From the beginning ZANU - with its laziness to plann and hence love for chaos - has allowed people to trade in flea markets without providing appropriate licencing and tracking mechanisms. I don't know if these flea markets even had limits as to how many people could trade there. Un fortunately, this would be asking too much of our esteemed government - a simple set of rules on what you can do and where. Admittedly, there were a great deal of criminal elements, but since we are talking of crime, why stick to the kapenta, let's go for the big guns, shall we. Like the ministers with non-performing loans in failed financial institutions. And ministers and high-ranking people with non-performing loans in financial institutions on the brink of collapse. It's a shame that GG wants to paint a picture of having a spine when he's just a character in the drama written by ZANU.
These people are playing with people's lives and sadly the people do not have what it takes to do something about it. We are in our homes waiting for freedom to come knocking at our door - and even if it does, we are so scared we will probably ignore it and tell it to go away as we have done this week. It's all okay since it's only affecting the other half but it has been said that soon it will be you and who will stand up for you when they come for you.
We are in the midst of a leadership crisis and if we don't solve that we are in for a long wait for freedom.
Who is willing to die for freedom? Who is willing to lead and follow? Those gifted with leadership, please speak up, we are gifted with followership and will not let you down.
